Set to be released in September, History of Modern will be Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's 11th studio album and their first since 1996.
In an update at omd.uk.com on Mar. 28 the band said the History of Modern mixes are well underway and basic album version mixes should be complete within 2 weeks. Mixes are being done by producer Mike Crossey at The Motor Museum.
Confirmation on releasing record labels should be known by the end of April. The album has attracted a lot of interest in the music industry with lots of offers being put forward.
Artwork for History of Modern will be done by the great Peter Saville.
OMD are currently giving away an exclusive free demo of the song "Sister Marie Says," portions of which are rumoured to have been originally composed in 1981. Other expected tracks from History of Modern include "If You Want It," "Suspicion," "History of Modern," (possibly "Big Bang Theory") and "Save Me."
The band members for the recording of History of Modern are said to be the line-up from the recording of 1986's The Pacific Age: Paul Humphreys, Andy McCluskey, Malcolm Holmes, and Martin Cooper.
