The debut album by The Jesus and Mary Chain, 1985's Psychocandy is considered a landmark album for it's innovative fusion of sounds and is found on many of the "GREATEST" lists, including Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and Q's 40 Best Albums of the 1980s.
Psychocandy fused together lead singer Jim Reid's "two primary influences, the guitar noise of The Stooges and The Velvet Underground with The Beach Boys, The Shangri-Las and Phil Spector; In fact, the album's opening song, 'Just Like Honey,' borrows Hal Blaine's famous drum intro from The Ronettes 1963 classic, 'Be My Baby,' produced and co-written by Spector."
Three singles were released from the album, "You Trip Me Up," "Just Like Honey," and "Never Understand." "Just Like Honey" went to #45 on the UK Singles Chart, and made it into Waist High's 2005 list of GREATEST SONG PLACEMENTS IN A FILM for it's appearance at the conclusion of the 2003 film Lost In Translation.
