Extra Finger Leads To Arrest
SALEM, Ore. -- An extra digit helped police finger their man earlier this week in Salem. Officers responded Tuesday to suspicious activity at 476 Vista Ave. S.E. A search of the house reportedly turned up 16.5 grams of methamphetamine, heroin residue, scales, packaging supplies and user materials.
Bruce Lane Parker, 47, and Serena Ruth Bacon, 31, were arrested on several charges.
When questioned by police, a third suspect allegedly used his brother's name and birth date. But a check of the brother's criminal history revealed that he has just nine fingers. The man in custody had 10.
When confronted about the extra finger, 46-year-old Kenneth Shannon McPherson gave up his true identity. He was arrested on several charges, including four warrants for previous drug charges.
Bacon's 9-year-old daughter was taken into protective custody.
