Happy Birthday Marc Almond.
With David Ball, established the first successful British electronic duo Soft Cell.
Soft Cell had a string of international hits, the most successful having been their 1981 version of the Gloria Jones track "Tainted Love." "Tainted Love" was a number-one hit in seventeen countries and went on to set a then-Guinness World Record for the longest consecutive stay on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart (43 weeks). Their album Memorabilia was the first techno record ever, and set the pace for a whole musical movement.
Almond is currently working on his new album of cover songs which should be ready for release by the end of 2006.
